The Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has called on the contractor handling the Adwofua–Oseikojokrom road project to accelerate work, following what he described as unsatisfactory progress. According to a briefing by the Regional Department of Roads and Highways, the contractor has been on site for about five months but has only completed 15 percent of the project. This falls short of the expected 20 percent progress within the same period. Expressing concern during an inspection, the Minister said although the performance was not entirely disappointing, it was below expectations. He urged the contractor to improve efficiency and make better use of the time available to meet project deadlines. The contract was awarded to Cymains Ghana Limited, a firm the Ministry describes as reputable with a proven track record in road construction. The Minister noted that under the government’s Big Push infrastructure initiative, there is strong confidence in local contractors to deliver quality projects on schedule. He further directed the company to significantly increase progress within the next two months to align with the original timeline. “We are not satisfied with your pace; you can do far better,” he stated, urging the contractor to step up efforts. Residents in the area also expressed frustration over the slow pace of work and appealed for intervention to speed up the project. Some suggested that if financial challenges are affecting progress, the necessary support should be provided. Meanwhile, the Western North Regional Minister, Wilbert Petty Brentum, emphasised the importance of collaboration between the contractor and the Regional Coordinating Council. He explained that the Council plays a key supervisory role and can help ensure smooth and timely execution of the project.
